The blue mounting thing is very stable on the stem and requires a good deal of force to move it around (I'm currently using the rubber bands to hold it on). During rough rides, the phone is completely solid and doesn't budge at all. I really like how the phone is attached and removed from the mount - it's brilliant. The case is of good enough quality that I now use it all of the time, replacing my Speck case. It doesn't have the extra rubber layer that my Speck case had but it should still be at least as protective as all of the regular cases out there. I haven't used the poncho in the rain yet but it fits nicely over the phone case and still allows good finger contact with the phone screen.I do wish that they would have done a couple of things differently though. Through standard use, debris and particles (dust, sand, etc.) have accumulated between the back of my iphone 5, and the inside of the case. As you would expect, while the case is on the phone, it is difficult to tell that anything is building up inside. The particles (especially some sand) that ended up in the case caused significant scratching to the aluminum body of my iPhone. While I can see this being a potential issue with any phone case of this style, it is very disappointing to have a protective case actually cause damage to the phone. If you buy this case, probably a good idea to inspect the inside of the case on a regular basis.I am very happy with this mount, it was extremely easy to install on my daily commute bike. If you take a razor blade to it and buy some extra strong double sided tape you can probably use it again when you update your phone. I have a phone that's a bit large for my hands and the universal piece that sticks to the back of the phone is actually quite nice. It makes me have a better grip on my phone.
